John makes his debut at the Glyndebourne Opera Festival this year conducting Massenet’s Cendrillon, an opera based on the fairy-tale story of Cinderella. Featuring a stellar cast including Danielle De Niese in the title role, John will conduct the London Philharmonic Orchestra and The Glyndebourne Chorus. The original production was conceived and directed by Fiona Shaw for Glyndebourne’s tour and received great acclaim. Speaking about the opera, John said, “It’s instantly attractive music…I was struck by just how high the level of invention is all the way through. It’s not done very often, but it’s one of his best pieces.”
