Debut with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment
John makes his debut with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment at the Southbank Centre on 18 April. The progarmme includes many Gilbert and Sullivan favourites including Trial by Jury, The Mikado, The Pirates of Penzance and HMS Pinafore.
Earlier in the month John leads the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in two concerts at Symphony Hall, featuring soloists James Ehnes, James Way and Božidar Smiljanić. John conducts a British and American programme of Copland, Barber and Walton. The second performance will be recorded for broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on 16 April.
On 13 April, John conducts the BBC Philharmonic at The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, where James Ehnes appears again as soloist in Walton’s Violin Concerto.
