John returns to the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra for his final concerts as Associate Guest Conductor in Glasgow and Inverness on 7 and 8 March.  The programme hints at nostalgia, solitude and loss with Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915, Bernstein’s Three Dance Episodes from “On the Town” and Rachmaninov’s Symphony No.3.  The concert will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 at a later date.

In Scandinavia, John returns to Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra to conduct Korngold’s Symphony and Strauss’ Four Last Songs, broadcast live on P2 on 29 March and he makes his debut with the Stavanger Symphony on 21 March with an all-Elgar programme.

And at the very start of the month, on 1st March, John returns to his hometown of Gateshead to conduct the Royal Northern Sinfonia in an all-British programme of works by L. Berkeley, Britten and Vaughan Williams, with Andy Staples as soloist.
